If you are looking to help the classroom, here are a few small items that would make a big difference for the class:
Headphones (they don't even have to be new, we just need them to work. If you have extras at home you can just donate those to us, or you are welcome to buy a new set to donate) Hand Sanitizer Black Whiteboard Markers Just send them to school with your student. Thank you!! If you are looking to help the classroom, here are a few small items that would make a big difference for the class:

It's only day one of our teacher training and already I have learned a lot of valuable information! Each of the students now has a log on and password for a great reading website that we will call Monster Reading. Students will first build their monster avatar, next they practice letter sounds, then they move on to sight words and reading.
User name is their first name (the name we call them at school for those who use a nickname or middle name.) Password is the last 4 digits of their student number. I will be sending home the use name and passwords for all the websites and apps we are using in class. I promise to put them all on 1 sheet of paper! It may take a few weeks to get them all set up, for now allow your student to enjoy Monster Reading at home as often as they want. Make sure you use the link from this page or my homepage as I had to create a personal link for the class in order to give them user names and passwords that I want them to have instead of randomly assigned codes like we will have with the next website I will discuss; XtraMath! XtraMath is a site that allows kids to practice their math facts as often as they want at home. We will be doing xtramath at school, but I will offer rewards and incentives for students who log on and complete extra math at home. Codes to set up your students home account will come home on Monday October 6th 2014. Our fire safety assembly was today. Expect your student to come home and look for working smoke detectors around the house. They watched a video about the importance of having fire drills at home. Hopefully your student will ask that you make a family safety plan and practice fire drills during the day and at night while everybody is sleeping.
This is just a reminder that donation collection packets were sent home last week. Please have your children bring them back on Friday (the day of the WALK-A-THON)! We will collect them before the kids walk. When collecting donations please DO NOT LET CHILDREN GO ALONE to request donations! Students’ safety is our #1 concern!
Last year we collected just under $4,000 and walked 986.2 miles (far enough to get us to the Grand Canyon)! Let’s try to beat that and raise $4,500 this year and walk 1,100 miles (that’s enough to get us to Roswell, NM)! Money will be used to purchase new technology for classrooms. Every little bit counts! If every child were able to collect $10 we’d exceed our goal! Prizes will be awarded for:
Tomorrow 9/19 is the High School Homecoming parade. We will be watching the parade from 2-2:45 at the end of Carl Miller Park along American Legion BLVD. If you would like to join us you can come to school at 1:45 and check in at the office, then walk over with us OR you can meet us at the park. If you join us, your student will still sit with the class and follow all of our parade watching rules.
Please e-mail, send a note or call me to volunteer in class! Sign up for as many days and as you would like, times avaliable:
Working with students in small groups or one on one: Daily 10-11:15 Mon-Thurs: 1:50-2:50 Office work: (includes grading, prepping for projects and other classroom duties) 8:15-3:00 Any time and duration you are available!! Please make sure I have advanced notice that you are coming so I can have work ready. Class Dojo parent codes will be coming home this week! You will be able to follow your student's points starting next Tuesday 9/16/2014.
